Tying Yourself Up in Knots
Learn (review) at least 5 essential outdoor knots. Make yourself a “quick release” paracord bracelet to attractively store 3 metres of handy rope to be used for clothesline, tarp ties, tent guy line repairs and much more!
A little bit of paint and a little bit of paper are easy to carry along on an out trip. Sometime, with the blessing of time, we can find a new way to soak in the beauty and detail of nature around us. We’ll take some paper and watercolours into the woods and we’ll do a little painting together. I’m no art teacher, but this is one of my favourite activities to do on canoe trips and it will be fun to see what we create.
Long hikes and trips often mean tired feet. Learn some simple and fun techniques for foot massage which will gain you brownie points on your next adventure with friends. Bring a partner, or meet up with someone at the workshop.
Canoeing Together –Timing of this needs to be confirmed with camp.
Spend some time on the water learning from each other various techniques
Come learn some basic ukulele techniques including chords and strumming by Tannis and Chantal, who collectively have been playing uke for over a dozen years. Great instrument for camping, canoeing or even day tripping. Jam out on a few tunes that we will perform at the coffee house on Saturday night. All levels of players welcome. Bring your own uke or we will have a handful available on a first come first serve basis.

Spiritual Art Therapy
Using meditation, paint, colour, nature, and your heart you will express your “feelings” onto canvas. Using different mediums can be a wonderful way to channel calm, positive energy, especially for women who have busy stressful lives. The workshop has very little technical instruction so individuals can develop their own style and imagination. Women who have never painted before take to this well.
Learn How to Make Beer with wild edibles
Explore the magic and health giving powers of natural fermentation. The workshop will involve taping a maple tree and hands on preparation of some tasty brews including root beer, ginger beer and maple beer. (requires 3 hours)
Tying a Fly
Tying flies seems complicated but its not! We Will be able to create a Wolly Bugger and then you will be able to fish with it. This is your chance to learning about the amazing world of Fly fishing! And after the workshop, if you are interested, I will bring some rod to get chance to teach how to cast also.
Orienteering with a twist
We invite up to 20 women to join us in learning some basic map and compass skills, with a twist! Challenge yourself to go beyond your Sat Nav and GPS device and get back to basics. Be ready to move actively outside exploring the lovely Camp Kawartha and to have a great time learning some useful skills! Bring your own compass if you have one.

Finding new ways of photographing nature while improving photography skills. Learn new ways of using your camera's manual settings to find your creative side. How do you see nature? How can you photograph the image in a way that shows what you see?

Got the best headlamp ever? Know a great technique for peeing over the edge of a canoe? Come and check out some fun gear that you’ll want to make or get for your next trip and share your favorite trip stuff and techniques!
Come learn about Prevention – things to do and know so you can prevent getting lost and Essentials to take with you in the woods. What happens if you actually get lost, we will cover that too!
Bruce and a Backpack Smackdown
The Bruce Trail, 968 km, stunning beauty, unexpected surprises, hills, hills, hills. Day tripping along the Bruce trail can be both accessible and challenging. Rhonda and Hannah are currently dayhiking an End to End of the Bruce Trail. While exploring the contents of their backpacks, they will debate stories of rain, snakes, hills, death on the right, how to park, how far to go in a day, winter day hiking, what to bring, what not to bring and where to eat. This workshop highlights the Ten Essentials, humour and tales from our trek.
